The Concept
The Savannah Jazz Festival is a multi-day celebration of jazz, bringing the community together through live performances, history, and shared experiences. Held in Forsyth Park, the open-air concert transforms the park into a vibrant community of music and culture! Despite its rich legacy, jazz is often misunderstood by younger audiences, often seen as old-fashioned or slow. I aim to break those stereotypes and highlight the genre’s energy, spontaneity, and joy!
The Project
To promote next year’s festival, I created a motion graphic that captures the lively and dynamic spirit of jazz. The animation begins with a record spinning, its music bursting into life with a vibrant explosion of colors, textures, and movement. The visuals dance in sync with an upbeat jazz rhythm, mirroring the improvisational and expressive nature of the genre. Through bold typography, playful transitions, and rhythmic pacing, the animation builds excitement, revealing key event details and ending with an open invitation: See you there! This project is designed to ignite curiosity and enthusiasm, encouraging new audiences to embrace jazz!
Drawing from my own experience of my first jazz festival at the 2022 Savannah Jazz Festival, I wanted to represent that excitement into an engaging visual. I used bold, dynamic motion, rich textures, and a bright color palette to reflect the genre’s rhythm and spontaneity. Through this motion graphic, I hope to invite more people to the festival and help them experience jazz in a whole new way!
